Read the overnight pattern
A smooth, elevated line suggests HVAC or a broad base load. Repeating blocks at the same time suggest schedules such as EV charging, water heating or pool equipment. Short cycling spikes may be refrigeration or pumps.
Run a controlled comparison
Choose two similar-weather nights. On one night, pause only a safe, nonessential scheduled load. Compare the same hourly period. Change one thing at a time so the result is meaningful.
