How Much Does a Space Heater Cost to Run Per Day?
Calculate the daily and monthly cost of a 1,500-watt space heater using your electricity rate and operating time.
A 1,500-watt space heater uses 1.5 kWh for every full hour it heats. At $0.17 per kWh, that is about $0.26 per hour, $2.04 for eight hours, or $61.20 over 30 days. Thermostat cycling may reduce actual use.

Use this simple formula
Divide heater watts by 1,000, multiply by hours used, then multiply by your electricity price. For a 1,500-watt heater used eight hours at $0.17/kWh: 1.5 × 8 × $0.17 = $2.04 per day.
At the same rate, four hours costs about $1.02, eight hours $2.04 and twelve hours $3.06. Multiply by the number of days used for a monthly estimate.
Why the real cost can differ
Most heaters cycle off after reaching the thermostat setting, so they may not draw full power for every clock hour. Room insulation, drafts, outdoor temperature and heater placement influence the duty cycle.
